13 ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS Faulk M.S.: Students will meet or exceed the Panel Recommendation of 58-70% for the TAKS assessment in the area of Reading. 7.5 All English / E.S.L. Teachers will attend District/Campus Staff Development to acquire initiatives, strategies, and activities pertaining to Special Education, Technology, Discipline Management and Conflict Resolution. All teachers will be given training on various strategies that will make students more successful and enable teachers to monitor the progress of the ELL students through the English Language Proficiency Standards modules. Staff Development, Lesson Plans, Student Portfolios, PDAS Documentation Teachers, Administration District and Campus Staff Development Days 2009-2010 7.6 English and ESL students will participate in Open Book Literacy to establish a solid foundation for new English learners, build on skills, reduce accent, advance grammar skills and expand vocabulary. 14 SPECIAL EDUCATION Faulk M.S.: Students will meet or exceed the Panel Recommendation of 70% for the TAKS assessment in the area of Reading. Special Educations students will receive assistance from Content Mastery as specified in their Individual Education Program (IEP). The IEP is a legal document and all students must receive the assistance they need in Content Mastery. F: Progress Reports Sign in Log S: Pass / Fail Rate Sp. Ed Teacher2009-2010 Benchmarks each six weeks 7.2. Teachers certified and highly qualified in Special Education will be hired for after school tutorial programs to address student ’ s special needs in order to reinforce TEKS / TAKS / TAKS-Accommodated /Modified / TAKS ALT. objectives and increase campus AYP by 10%. Special education teachers need to concentrate on the special education population because they are more familiar with the type of strategies these students need to be successful in TAKS. Special Education Teachers will be provided with a study item analysis of the students TAKS/ TAKS-A & M to determine appropriate instructional planning for their students. Special education teachers need to study the item analysis to make sure that the students are taking the right test and that the students are mastering the TEKS. 15 SPECIAL EDUCATION Faulk M.S.: Students will meet or exceed the Panel Recommendation of 70% for the TAKS assessment in the area of Reading. 7.5. SE students will be introduced to current events and read a minimum of 15 minutes a week. All students need to practice their literacy skills on a daily basis to be able to understand the lengthy TAKS passages. Students ’ Progress Report SE / Reg. Teachers' Log SE Teachers and Reg. Teachers Weekly 7.6. SE and Regular Education Teachers will meet prior to ARD to discuss pertinent information regarding student ’ s progress. Special Education teachers need to co-plan with regular education teachers and monitor student progress. They need to communicate with each other to see if the student is being successful in the LRE with the modifications being implemented or they must decide on new strategies, new placement, new testing accommodations/modificati ons, or even a different test being administered in order for the special education student to be successful.
