Background Hyderabad is one of the most air polluted cities in India Apparent public apathy/cynicism despite some awareness Outdoor air quality taking its toll on public health – especially children

Objectives Raise awareness – linking outdoor air quality and public health Encourage action at the individual, local and community levels to address air quality issues

Approach Launching a campaign that reaches the masses – focus on children Gaining support from government and other agencies Recruiting potential partners Media and Outreach Public Education Strategy

What Can You Do? Pool cars as often as possible Plant a tree…and maintain it Travel by public transport whenever possible Do not hire autos or taxis belching smoke Make sure your vehicle is properly maintained Combine vehicle trips whenever possible Cross streets at designated sidewalks

Outreach Events Hosting various events for children and young-adults – idea forums, quizzes,, etc.. Sponsorships and Road Shows Postcard Campaign for school children

Evaluating Campaign Impact Gauging feedback on campaign website Conducting surveys in schools Review entire campaign and in a lessons-learned document for future work
