2. Today, in our bible story, We will be hearing about some girls Who were waiting ready with their lamps. In our prayers of praise, We shall think about lamps and light. Let us pray Lord, You are the light And in You there is no darkness at all. A prayer of praise

3. First let us think about the sun; Let us remember how it can dazzle us, Causing us to shade our eyes on a bright day. Let us think of its warmth on our backs. Gracious God, You are more glorious Than we can possibly imagine. The brightness of the sun Is just a reflection of how wonderful You are. A prayer of praise

4. In heaven, where You reign as King, There is no need of a sun, For You are the light. The warmth of Your love Extends over all the earth. Lord, You are the light And in You there is no darkness at all. A prayer of praise

5. Let us now think of a car’s headlights. They show us where to go, Lighting up the way ahead. Lord, we praise You Because You are always there to guide us. A prayer of praise

6. You give us Your word To help us make decisions; You sent Jesus to show us how to live; You give us Your Holy Spirit To be with us all the time. Lord, You are the light And in You there is no darkness at all. A prayer of praise

7. Let us think now of a torch, Taken into a dusty dirty shed or cellar. By its light, we see all the cobwebs And the dirt. Lord, we praise You Because You see us so clearly. A prayer of praise

8. You know when we make mistakes And get things wrong, And yet You still love us. Lord, You are the light And in You there is no darkness at all. A prayer of praise

9. Now let us think of one of those lamps Carried by a girl in the story. It would be a little oil lamp, With quite a small flame; Yet what a difference it would make to the darkest night. A prayer of praise

10. Lord, we praise You because with You beside us, We are never alone. However difficult or scary things may seem, You are always there beside us, And You have promised never to leave us. Lord, You are the light And in You there is no darkness at all. A prayer of praise

11. For all the ways You bring light to our lives, We praise Your Holy Name. Amen A prayer of praise
