How do you get great pictures?  Take a TON of pictures!  Use the “kill your darlings” editing advice—if it’s not right, get rid of it.  Does the picture make you ask a question?  Let’s look at Mr. Thompson’s poster—what does it cause us to wonder about?  Pictures drive readers to the captions with questions they want answers to  In sports… ACTION, FACE(S), BALL  In everything… ACTION, FACE(S)

6.  Find what you think is a great photograph online or in a magazine.
