Math Bellwork Dec. 2 – Dec. 6

Bellwork Monday, December 2, 2013 Here is an equation using four 5s to equal 1: (5 ÷ 5) x (5 ÷ 5) =1 Find equations using four 5s to equal each of these numbers:0, 2, 3, 6, 10

Bellwork Tuesday, December 3, 2013 Determine the slope for each of the following problems. xy -40.5 03 88 1613 1.2.3.(-3,18) (17,-6) 4.y=4x+8 5.(-4,-6) (-20,-12)

Bellwork Wednesday, December 4, 2013 Determine the slope for each of the following problems 2.(2,-23) (4,27) 3.y=0.25x-58 4. xy -38 06 34 62

Bellwork Thursday, December 5, 2013 Classify each of the following as linear or non-linear. If it is linear determine the slope 1.{(3,2),(0,2),(-3,2)} 2.{(5,-2),(5,0),(5,2)} 3.{(-2,4),(-1,1),(0,0),(1,1),(2,4)} 4.{(-2,2),(-1,5),(0,8),(1,11) 5.{(-3,-2),(-2,-4),(-1,-4),(0,-2),(1,2)}

Bellwork Friday, December 6, 2013 There are three switches downstairs. Each corresponds to one of the three light bulbs in the attic. You can turn the switches on and off and leave them in any position. How would you identify which switch corresponds to which light bulb, if you are only allowed one trip upstairs? How can you throw a ball as hard as you can and have it come back to you, even if it doesn't bounce off anything? There is nothing attached to it, and no one else catches or throws it back to you.

Bellwork Friday, December 6, 2013 Answers Keep the first bulb switched on for a few minutes. It gets warm, right? So all you have to do then is... switch it off, switch another one on, walk into the room with bulbs, touch them and tell which one was switched on as the first one (the warm one) and the others can be easily identified :-) Throw the ball straight up in the air
