3. The Specific Nature of the 10 Commandments 1.The 10 commandments were for a specific people – Israel. Exodus 19:5-6 Deuteronomy 5:1-5 It was a covenant relationship between God and Israel. (Exodus 24:3-8) Deuteronomy 4:4-8 2. The 10 commandments were for a specific purpose – holiness. Leviticus 20:22-26 Galatians 3:19-20 3. The 10 commandments were for a specific time frame – till the Messiah should come. Galatians 3:15-18, 23-29 Colossians 2:13-14 Hebrews 8:13

4. The Ten Commandments 1. You shall have no other gods before Me. 2. You shall not make a carved image. 3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. 4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 5. Honor your father and mother. 6. You shall not murder. 7. You shall not commit adultery. 8. You shall not steal. 9. You shall not bear false witness. 10. You shall not covet.
