When handling animals hair covering, face mask, exam gloves and shoe covers are required. This covering is to be worn only when working in the ARF and exchanged for a different lab coat when working in the laboratory.

Small spill- If there is NO hazard to employees or the environment then the Lab cleans up using the appropriate spill kit, while wearing personal protective equipment and disposes of all material properly. Large Spill – If there is hazard to people or the environment or the effect is unknown. Isolate the spill area (evacuate). Deny entry to others. Call x3333 with the location and type of hazardous release. VA Police will secure the area. The VA Police dispatch will contact an environmental cleanup company. Provide responders a hard copy of the MSDS. Contact the NWI Safety Office at x4442 After Hours: Administrator of the Day x3250; Police x3202 or x3333

Know your role in responding to a fire in your facility. Participate in your facility’s fire drills.
