Students design scaled-down versions of communities from different historical periods or recreate their own towns. Grades 2-6

Neighborhood MapMachine 2.0 By: Tom Snyder Productions  This software meets state and national standards for Social Studies.  The instructional focus is compass directions, map-reading skills, neighborhoods and community, scale, and 2-D and 3- D relationships.  Students learn to locate places using the four cardinal directions. They use the compass rose, grid, and symbols to locate places on maps. 5. GeoCycle USA By: EDVENTURE Students fly their GeoCycle on a trip across the U.S. They learn geography as they experience our country’s famous cities and landmarks firsthand. This program develops skills in map reading, critical thinking, navigation, and physical geography. It is a good enhancement to the study on States. It has colorful political and staellite maps along with great photos. Grade 3-12
