1 Poster Print Size: This poster template is 24” high by 36” wide. It can be used to print any poster with a 2:3 aspect ratio including 36x54 and 48x72. Placeholders: The various elements included in this poster are ones we often see in medical, research, and scientific posters. Feel free to edit, move, add, and delete items, or change the layout to suit your needs. Always check with your conference organizer for specific requirements. Image Quality: You can place digital photos or logo art in your poster file by selecting the Insert, Picture command, or by using standard copy & paste. For best results, all graphic elements should be at least 150-200 pixels per inch in their final printed size. For instance, a 1600 x 1200 pixel photo will usually look fine up to 8“-10” wide on your printed poster. To preview the print quality of images, select a magnification of 100% when previewing your poster. This will give you a good idea of what it will look like in print. If you are laying out a large poster and using half-scale dimensions, be sure to preview your graphics at 200% to see them at their final printed size. Please note that graphics from websites (such as the logo on your hospital's or university's home page) will only be 72dpi and not suitable for printing. To change the color theme, select the Design tab, then select the Colors drop-down list. The default color theme for this template is “Office”, so you can always return to that after trying some of the alternatives. References The target of this capstone is to present a new Android application that utilizes GPS to determine a user’s location and trigger alerts set up by the user. This capstone poster will discuss the process of creating such an application including the design of the UI and code, work methods, tools and technologies used on the project, and testing methods. The motivation behind this project is to provide an easier way for people to remember things. It will allow users to be more efficient in their daily lives and eliminate wasted time and hassle. Abstract GeoReminders has a main menu with three buttons (Fig. 1). The View Reminders button allows the user to view all reminders as a list (Fig. 2). The Add New Reminders button takes the user to a form that can be used to add a new reminder (Fig. 3). The View Map button takes the user to a Google map that displays all reminders within specified vicinity (Fig. 4). The user can expand or shrink the map area using their fingers. Introduction This project was developed using Agile Methodology. Each feature was broken down into smaller tasks and developed individually (Chart 1). This allowed for an application that was more flexible to change. All Code was developed in Eclipse IDE. It was then tested on the Nexus 7 tablet, running Android 4.4. The Google Play Services location API provides the app with all the required GPS features. Google Play Services is a proprietary background service and API package for Android devices. The location APIs make it easy for developers to build location-aware applications, without needing to focus on the details of the underlying location technology. The application requires data to be saved into a database in order to be retrieved each time the application is opened. In order to do this, a SQLite database was implemented. Saving data to a database is ideal for repeating or structured data, such as a list of reminders and locations. Methods and Materials A Location Based Reminder application on Android platform was successfully developed which can save one reminder at a time. It has been tested by saving addresses at different locations and it gave proper output at proper place. As Location based application consume more power, effort has been made to reduce power consumption by setting a time interval of 20 seconds and a distance interval of 50 meters has been set between two consecutive location updates. As it is GPS based application, it may not work inside a room or during cloudy weather. Its response is also little bit slower. Conclusions Results Chart 1. The Gannt Chart shows the timeline for user stories REPLACE THIS BOX WITH YOUR ORGANIZATION’S HIGH RESOLUTION LOGO The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a fast growing technology that can be used for a wide range of applications. It is currently used by many major tech giants today. GPS was originally developed for military purposes during the Cold War but has since demonstrated its benefits to the civilian population. GPS is most commonly used for navigation directions. However, GPS has become useful for many other applications. The mobile app will be implemented using agile methodology. This will enhance efficiency and quality. The finished product will be a mobile android application that will allow the user to enter different reminders that are triggered when the user is near a location. The user will also be able to view a map of their current location and see if there are any errands in the area that need to be done. Figure 2. View All Reminders Screen Figure 4. The application provides an electronic form to enter reminders and a dynamic map. The application saves data collected to a database. Its operational status is under development. GeoReminders operates on mobile devices with an Android operating system. Discussion
