2. MAJOR FUNCTIONS  The muscular systems major functions are to create movement, project organs, pump blood, and ease blood flow.

3. FUNCTIONS AND LOCATIONS OF MUSCLES Skeletal muscle: Location-around bones. Functions- carries out movements of the body, provides heat regulation, and maintains posture and muscle tone. Smooth muscle: Location-in the walls of hollow internal structures. Functions- helps the body perform a variety of crucial tasks.

4. FUNCTIONS AND LOCATIONS OF MUSCLES Cardiac muscle: Location-on the walls of the heart. Functions-causes heart to beat.

6. HOW DO MUSCLES WORK IN PAIRS? As biceps and triceps as an example, they are used to bend and straighten the elbow. When you contract your biceps, your elbow bends or flexes while when you contract your triceps, the elbow straightens.

7. DISEASES  Muscular dystrophy: a genetic disease that damages muscle fibers.  Cerebral palsy: impacts posture, balance and motor function.  Myasthenia gravis: is a chronic autoimmune disease that results in muscle weakness and fatigue.

HOW DOES IT WORK WITH OTHER SYSTEMS? 1.The muscular system works with the endocrine system by producing heat for the body. 2.The muscular system works with the digestive system to control entrances and exits of the digestive trap. 3.The muscular system works with the skeletal system to provide all skeletal movement.

9. INTERESTING FACTS  There are muscles in the root of your hair that gives you goose bumps.  It takes 17 muscles to smile and 42 muscles to frown.  The hardest working muscle is in the eye.  There is a muscle in your eye that helps it move.  There are more than 600 muscles in the body.
