A Spanish island in the Atlantic Ocean Surface: 1,500 km² A population of approximately 1 million inhabitants Main economic activities: - The 2 nd most important port of Spain - Tourism: more than 156,000 hotel beds, 9,000 bars and restaurants Tourism supports 80 % of economic activity. Gran Canaria needed new technology to improve its services

4 Czech Republic, April 2006 4 End goal To show entrepreneurs in the tourism industry that information technology and telecommunications (ITC) are an improvement tool that will have a positive impact on their business results.

5 Czech Republic, April 2006 5 General description Entrepreneural associations created a technological company, Tourism On Line (TOL). Its aim is to serve entrepreneurs as a remote tool leading to the improvment, flexibility and higher effectivity in relations with all participants in this branch.
