2  Meeting Maker, Staffweb, Weekly Online News and more! How do all these UW Libraries communication mechanisms fit together? How can you successfully keep up with all that's happening in the Libraries.  We'll discuss these questions and more in this session, sharing suggestions and success stories for keeping current.

3  UW Libraries staff are expected to play an active role in communicating with coworkers as outlined in the: ◦ Personal Communication Responsibility Guidelines Personal Communication Responsibility Guidelines  What does that mean?  How do I do this?

4  Keep your schedule up to date on Meeting Maker.  Post appropriate meetings and events to the Internal Master Calendar and the Staffweb Events Calendar.  Check email and voicemail regularly and respond in a timely manner. Use the personal message options (voicemail) and vacation configuration (email) to alert others of your absence.  Take time to read publications to stay informed!

8  Make it a habit to log in  Use the Search box to locate information  Note the Events strip  Explore the content under the various tabs, in particular the News tab  Check out the Useful Links  If you don’t find what you’re looking for send feedback from the Contact tab.

9  Chief complaint: Hard to remember to log in  Possible solutions: ◦ Create a shortcut on your desktop ◦ Use the Quick Launch option in Windows for shortcuts programs you use most often ◦ Pin MeetingMaker to your start menu  Update MeetingMaker to reflect your work schedule  Remember banners don’t alter your free/ business time unless you uncheck “flexible”.

10  Second to email, WON is currently the most important communication mechanism for updating staff.  WON includes updates from Dean, events, human resources, classes, news and announcements  What prevents you from reading WON regularly?

11  Disseminates official information during emergencies or crisis situations that may disrupt the normal operation of the UW or threaten the health or safety of members of the UW community.  Delivers messages to subscribers on a "best effort" basis to email text-capable wireless devices, such as many cell telephones. Also available via Facebook and Twitter.FacebookTwitter  Complements other tools already used by UW to communicate with the UW community during crises or emergencies, including: ◦ Special alerts posted on the UW home page, UWIN, and MyUWUW home pageUWINMyUW ◦ UW information line: 206-UWS-INFO (897-4636) and toll-free 1-866-897-4636 ◦ Email sent to all current faculty, staff, and students ◦ Official messages also disseminated via the local media
