1 WELCOME TO THE HSC UPDATE FOR NOVEMBER 2006

2 Good news Ann received cleft palate surgery in Nov. Now she can speak confidently without being teased. She can sing freely without being laughed at. More financial support so that we can help more children with cleft palate like Ann.

3 Vaccination for some disabled children in the rural community

4 Dr. Xu gave a lecture in managing respiratory infections to Nainai and Aunti in the village.

5 Training Dr. Clara shared her professional expertise on treatment of cerebral palsy (CP) children with the ELA staff.

6 Dr. Clara explained how to evaluate these CP children and make treatment plans for them

7 This 13 year-old girl with cerebral palsy (CP) lives near the BeiGuan Hospital. Our staff invited her family to attend this special training. From then on, she has regularly come for treatment.

8 This little was taught by our staff to practice reading and writing.

9 I’m better now This little boy with cerebral palsy (CP) has been brought to the health service centre 5 times a week for treatment.

10 ELA directors went to the village clinic to find out their needs.

11 American Coordinator Kathy Porowski visited and encouraged us in November.

12 HSC staff thanks YOU for your ongoing support Current needs: –An overseas full-time general practitioner (as well as short-term doctors) to provide consistent and continuous medical care for our children and community. –A permanent International Communications Officer to liaison with overseas teams, visitors, and others doing Healthcare work.

13 HSC staff thanks YOU for your ongoing support Current needs: –More financial support so that we can extend our services (such as free medical clinics and dental care) to more people in rural communities near Xi’an.
