TRENDS AND CONSUMERISM IN HEALTH CARE Important Attributes Of Quality Health Care: Consumer Perspectives.

Introduction The objective of the study was to survey high-quality healthcare from customers’ perspectives. The result of the study indicate that there is high importance of up-to-date and well-informed nurses, good communication with the patients, constant flow of information regarding illness or disease, medications and treatment methods, and information regarding how to live a healthy longer life and time spent on reviewing patients need. The study deduces that all patients, of any income level, should be well informed about the health issues related to them. (Oermann & Templin, 2000).

Methodology Oermann & Templin 2000, p. 1

Evidenced Based Practices  SF-36 Health Survey  Quality Health Care Questionnaire

results  Differences between the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the data in regards to  descriptive statistics  inferential statistics  or both.

Descriptive Statistics  Details the description or feature s of the data  Who were surveyed  Objective of research and means of data collection

Inferential Statistics  Descriptive statistics quantitatively describes only what the data is and shows.  Inferential statistics, on the other hand, draws conclusion and refers to (i) provides probability of something that data presents that may recur in the future or (ii) extrapolating the result of testing of the sample population to entire population.

Effectiveness of the Study  The study concludes that : Nurses should always educate their patients on their healthcare. Patients of any class should be well educated on their health issues.

Conclusion  Future Trends in Healthcare Research - Use of Information Technology. Standardization of Data Collection.  Future Trends in Healthcare Consumerism. More Patient-focused. Healthcare Services. Increased participation of patients in their healthcare decision and management.  Appropriate integration of these trends in healthcare sector

Conclusion  Future trend of integrating healthcare research with that of consumerism.  Due to shortage of drug, there is a need to determine the daily patient care affects through researches.  Use of survey to highlight and forecast changes in healthcare consumerism.

Conclusion  Article Summary  The purpose of the study is to:  Determine the consumers’ opinion of healthcare quality.  Determine the relationship between patient’s opinion of health status and selected demographic variables.  Methods of data collection were the use of questionnaires and telephone interviews.  Findings of the study was that the consumers (patients) place high importance on up-to-date and well-informed staff.  Healthcare education by nursing staff is of utmost importance for all people, especially so for those with less education or low income.
