Teacher Created Ideas Question, Answer, Relationship Cards Right There (in the text) The information is found in one place in the text. who, where, when, what, how many, list, what kind, name. Think and Search (in the text) you will have to search in several places in the text to find the answer. describe, summarize, compare, explain, restate, discuss, report, find examples, for what reason, what caused, apply, calculate, collect, organize. Author and Me (in the book and in my head) You must use the information in the text as well as information not in the text to answer the question. contrast, analyze, examine, differentiate, distinguish, relate, demonstrate, illustrate, calculate, create, compose, debate, infer, solve. On My Own (in my head) Answers aren't found in the text but with information from your background knowledge. appraise, judge, rate, agree, rank, defend, justify.

Language Arts Home School Connection Increased understanding of curriculum, assessments, and knowledge of strategies provides parents with skills that can be used at home to help with the child’s learning.

Teacher Collaboration Using Data to Drive Change Student data is the basis for discussions on improving student performance. Helping Hands Weekly grade level planning/collaboration takes place. Teachers are supported by ongoing discussions/visitations by Literacy Coach. I can! I will! Why not! Differentiated instruction is provided to meet the diverse needs of students

Student Engagement Content and language objectives are clearly stated. Students are accountable for their own learning and strive to meet their goals. Assignments are intentional and purposeful, challenging yet achievable. Encouragement by the teacher drives student achievement.

Math Standards in Action A time for families to explore the wonders of math with their children in fun ways WHY? To help students reinforce skills already learned in math Give parents a chance to serve as models of motivation, persistence, and competence Promote math success in a supportive setting
