Two way updates on WAN might slow it down.

4. Domain controller setup As directed to you in assignments, you must have static IP on servers with domain controller. Add the Active Directory Role from the Server Manager – If this is the first domain controller, choose create new domain in new forest – If this is a backup dc, choose Add domain controller in existing forest. Give the existing domain name. When finished, you have to do a dcpromo from the console prompt. – This is where you choose read only, if that’s what you want to do. Usually it is not read only.
