1 Follow the directions below to complete the activity. 1.Begin by using the iPad camera to take a photo of yourself. Close the camera. 2.Click on the TYPE DRAWING App to open the app. 3.Click on the “+“ sign on the bottom menu bar to start a new project. 4.Click on the little photo icon on the top right of the top menu bar. 5.Click on “Import Photo”. 6.Click on “Camera Roll” and find the photo you took of yourself and select it, or click on it. Your photo will load into the Type Drawing app. 7.Click on the blue “Import” button. (You do not need to rotate it.) 8.Click on the “T” in the bottom tool bar on the left. This is where you type the words you want to paint on top of your photo. You can select drawing style I like the wavy line. Leave “Repeat” off sand choose whether you want the text in “All Caps” or not. 9.In the top “Text” box, type the words you want to appear as you paint over your photo. ***For this assignment you are to use words and sentences that describe you, the things you like, your dreams, your goals, your personality, things you enjoy doing, and the things you like most about yourself or your life. 10.Click on the “F” at the bottom next to the “T”. This allows you to choose your font style in the area called “Typeface”, Click on the arrow to right of the box and it will pull of a large menu of options that you can scroll through and test out. When you have selected the Typeface you like, move the “Size” slider to make the text the size you need; use the “Spacing” slider to space the letters, and the “Rotation” to adjust how the letters stand. 11.There are two ways to choose colors, for this project I recommend the “Eye Dropper” tool (It looks like a pencil with a hat on it). Click on it and move the target to the area of the photo you want to start with. It will select the color you stop on. Notice the color has changed in the little square box on the tool bar. 12.Now begin dragging or painting with your finger over the areas of your photo that match the color you selected. (If you have trouble seeing your text, lower the “Photo Opacity” slider on the tool bar, but remember to move it back up because the Eye Drop tool will not pick the true colors if they are faded. ) Change your color using the “Eye Dropper” tool every time your color needs to be changed to match the photo. When completed, lower the opacity slider until the underlying photo completely disappears and reveals all of your hard work. You may need to do touch ups, so raise the opacity a little and fill in any empty areas. 13.Remember to lower the “Photo Opacity” completely when finished. 14.Click on the “Send” arrow in the upper right-hand corner and choose “Save “ from the drop down menu. Now click the Gallery Button in the upper left-hand corner, and to watch your work in action, click on the play button at the bottom of the screen. 15.To protect it from changes, click on the “Send/SAVE” button at the bottom and select “Lock Drawing” and then choose “Email Drawing” my email is already prepared to get a copy, but don’t forget to email yourself a copy in the “To:” line. 16.Click the blue “Send” button and you are done. Close the app. National Standards : Grade 9-12 Visual Arts Content Standard 1: Understanding and applying media, techniques, and processes.
