9 STRUCTURE National Board of Directors composed of twenty-one members elected by the Members of the Corporation (Branches) - majority of members have an affiliation with a VON Branch –Responsible for setting the strategic direction for the organization and approving the national budget. –Setting national standards, policies and procedures adhered to by all Branches throughout the country.

10 STRUCTURE All Branches separately incorporated with own governance boards –Board composed of local community residents –Responsible for setting the strategic direction of the local branch in response to the needs of their communities and in support of the overall direction of the VON organization nationally, and approving the local budget.
