4th Annual CALIFORNIA CUPA CONFERENCE February 4-8, 2002 Santa Clara, California 4th Annual CALIFORNIA CUPA CONFERENCE February 4-8, 2002 Santa Clara, California Electronic Reporting of UST Data Kevin Calcagno Sequoia Analytical

What Type of Data Must Be Electronically Reported? Begins September 1, 2001 Laboratory Soil and Groundwater Sample Results Begins January 1, 2002 Sample Locations (latitude/longitude) Monitoring Well Elevation Data Groundwater Well Data (DTW, free product & status) Site Map AB2886 Electronic Data Deliverables

Electronic Reporting of Analytical Laboratory Data Began September 1, 2001 AB2886 Electronic Reporting a.k.a. COELT or EDF

Soil Groundwater For all UST samples What Laboratory Data Is Required?

A way to transfer laboratory and field information electronically The electronic version of a laboratory report Includes: –Chain-of custody information –Laboratory results –Quality assurance information 3 “Flat” files or 6 files Laboratory Sample Results- What is EDF?

Examples of EDF Contents Analytical Results Laboratory Ids Analysis Date Preparation batch Results Chain-of-Custody Data Global ID** Field Point Name** Sample IDs Collection Date/Time Preservation ** Client Provided QA/QC data Control Limits Surrogates Blanks Spikes

Format Errors Fields submitted in incorrect order Incorrect valid values Logic Errors, such as… Analysis date prior to sample date Test without results Content Errors Detection limits greater than reporting limits EDCC Error Checking Program

Get Ready For Electronic Reporting Verify that your analytical lab can produce EDF –Review/modify your laboratory contracts –Test your lab’s EDF format by using the desktop EDCC application from SWRCB AB2886 web site Check GeoTracker “AB2886” link for new documents and information

Fields of Information and create EDF module (performed by our LIMS Co.) Train all Project Managers on EDF Generation Dry-run with select clients Take a proactive approach with all UST clients EDF Development at Sequoia Analytical

Analytical Data Hand-Entered or Uploaded into LIMS Hand-Entered or Uploaded into COELT Six Flat EDF Files EDCC ProgramClient Analytical Data Uploaded into LIMS Six Flat EDF Files EDCC Program Client How Laboratories Produce and Reporting EDF Data Historical EDF Generation Process Sequoia EDF Generation Process

Notify your lab of your new EDF requirement REQUEST EDF ON THE CHAIN-OF- CUSTODY (COC)!! Provide Global ID and Field Point IDs on COC Make sure “report to:” company/consultant has provided information to ArsenaultLegg, Inc. Requirements for Successful EDF Generation

Successfully completing over 300 EDFs per month Reduced generation time to 15-20 minutes per project EDF generation will add 5-10% to analytical costs Results of EDF Planning
