3 Introduction Land only covers 25% of the earth and even less of that is forest, so let’s protect the woods we have! Animals, plants, and people all need the woods and use it to survive and thrive. How can you make a difference? Follow this PowerPoint and you will learn about Leave No Trace and the 7 steps you can follow to protect our environment for future generations. ARE YOU READY TO DO YOUR PART?

4 Overview of L.N.T. Leave No Trace (LNT) came about in the mid 20 th century when people began to go through a cultural shift of relying and using the woods to having minimal impact. The official principles of LNT came around in the 1960s and 70s, but it wasn’t until the 90s that the National Park service got on board. Now you will learn about the principles that experts across the country use to minimize impact within the woods.
