2. Introduction Born on December 12, 1915 in Hoboken New York to an Italian immigrant couple. He was an only child. His father, Martin Anthony, was a boxer- turned-fireman. His mother, Natalie “Dolly”, was a former barmaid who often sang at family gatherings.

3. Growing Up An accomplished all- around athlete, with a special interest in boxing After graduating high school, he began singing in his spare time. Began entering local talent contests

4. First Big Break Sinatra and a local trio won a contest on a nationwide radio show. Afterwards he got a Job at the Rustic Cabin where he was hired for the Harry James Orchestra. Six months later he joined the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.

5. The Family First wife - Nancy Barbato. They met when he was 19 in the summer of 1934. They were married in February of 1939 and divorced in October of 1951.
