5 Why It’s Important To Have Community Involvement I love seeing companies give back to their community or charity. Because, I can to learn how they’re embracing the full potential of their employees to create a more profound impact in their communities. The stories are always so inspiring, and I usually discover that businesses have many employee volunteers and some that are giving back too.

7 Facts About Macy’s In 2013, Macy’s corporate giving exceeded $73 million and 134,000 volunteer hours of community service The Partners in Time employee volunteerism program began in 1989. Since then, Macy’s employees have given over 2 million hours of community service valued at over $38 million. In 2013, over 35,400 Macy’s employees joined over 3,000 Partners in Time service projects in communities around the country including women’s health and domestic violence, health and social services, education, arts and culture, and community development among others. Nearly 725 United Way chapters across the United States received contributions totaling nearly $11 million from Macy’s, Inc. associates during 2013. Earning for Learning (EFL) is an initiative that provides grants to schools where Macy’s, Inc. associates, their families or retirees volunteer their time for education activities such as tutoring and mentoring. In 2013, approximately 60 grants were awarded totaling $23,500 through the EFL program, and EFL volunteers gave nearly 3,200 hours of service to their local schools. Macy’s, Inc. associates contributed food and donations equivalent to $3 million in 2013 to our companywide Bag Hunger campaign to help reduce hunger in our local communities. In 2013, customers contributed more than $33 million to nonprofit organizations nationwide through our signature programs such as: Believe, Go Red for Women, Got Your Six, Glamorama Fashion Shows, Reading is Fundamental and Shop for a Cause.
