7. Naming a Point On a coordinate plane, we name points by their ordered pairs When you write an ordered pair, the x-coordinate is written first, followed by the y-coordinate – (x,y) These are also called coordinates.

8. Example When naming a point, start at the origin and count left or right along the x-axis. Then count up or down to the point.

11. Graphing a point Start at the origin Move left if the x- coordinate is negative, move right if it is positive From there, move down if they y-coordinate is negative, move up if it is positive A (2,4), B (0, -7), C (-4, -5), D (-3, 0)
