On a typical day, at ports of entry, officers process:  1.1. million incoming travelers  333,000 privately owned vehicles  79,000 shipments of goods  $81 million USD in fees and tariffs  And in Addition, CBP  Arrests more than 60 people  Seizes more than 2,000 pounds of narcotics  Processes more than 490 terror alerts Ensure border security against terrorists and other criminals, while facilitating legitimate trade and travel.

7 Official Presentation July 2005 6  Enhance the security and safety of cargo shipments entering via truck across the Canadian and Mexican land borders.  Importer and Carrier must be approved by Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT).  Driver must be enrolled and approved and Canadian and US government (for US/CA border only).  Started in Detroit, Michigan in September 2002.  Currently at 30 land border locations.  More than 82,000 Drivers vetted, enrolled and credentialed.  Over 2,000 C-TPAT road carriers eligible for FAST benefits.  147,000 truck-mounted radio frequency transponders in use.

10 Official Presentation July 2005 9 SENTRI Locations Next Steps and Increase/maximize enrollment participation at existing high volume ports of entry As volumes increases, retrofit additional lanes with technology to create additional lanes. By increasing participation in FAST / SENTRI at existing sites, enforcement focus can be directed to the “high risk” cargo / travelers.
