3.  It is a transplantation of organ for the purpose of replacing damaged or absent organ.  The tissue and cells must be living for organ transplantation.  Blood and tissue test must match with donor to transplant an organ. Organ Transplantation

4.  The first transplanted organ is cornea in 1905.  Organs that can be transplanted are the heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, pancreas, intestine, and thymus.

8. KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION A kidney transplant is an operation that places a healthy kidney in your body. After transplantation operation, the patient do not need dialysis anymore.

9.  There are 2 types of kidney transplantation according to the source of kidney.  1) Kidney from living donors  2) Kidney from deceased donors. TYPES OF TRANSPLANTATION

10.  The surgery lasts for 3 hours. The donor kidney will be placed in the lower abdomen and its blood vessels connected to arteries and veins in the patient's body.  When this is complete, blood will be allowed to flow through the kidney again.  The final step is connecting the ureter from the donor kidney to the bladder.
