China Institute of Nuclear Information & Economics (hereinafter referred to as CINIE) ， an affiliated unit under the China National Nuclear Corporation, is mainly engaged in nuclear scientific and technological information study, nuclear industry planning and intellectual property rights research, information resources collection and service, multi-lingual translation, scientific books and magazines edition and publication, etc. And China INIS Center is an operating department of CINIE. Since acceding to INIS in 1984, CINIE, subject to China Atomic Energy Authorities’s direction and administration, has exclusively undertaken all daily INIS work in China. 3 I. 4. I would like hereby to introduce in four parts about the major work of our INIS Center in recent years, i.e. INIS bibliographic input preparation, INIS promotion, re- edition of Chinese INIS website and international communication. 4 II. Major Work of INIS in China

5. 1.INIS bibliographic input preparation In recent years, data input supported by the China INIS Center amounted to and has kept at about 3700 pieces annually. And also this year. During input preparation, high quality has been maintained in literature processing strictly with IAEA’s INIS specifications. Collected literatures include books, magazines, and meeting proceedings, etc., with magazines as the dominant figure. Our collection of meeting proceedings is mainly through cooperation with China Nuclear Society (hereinafter referred to as CNS) to collect all its published meeting proceedings. 5 II. Major Work of INIS in China

7. 2.Promotion of INIS The promotion of INIS in China is mainly through the following three channels. 7 The first is conferences. For example, to introduce about INIS to participants of other academic meetings. The second is collection of potential users’ information to distribute INIS publicity materials to them by post or E-mail; The third is Chinese INIS website. Since the website of China INIS Center was created in 2006, it has become an effective publicity and popularization platform. Through our promotion, more and more scientific personnel get to realize and utilize INIS.

8. The Chinese INIS website which integrated INIS database and the other database resources in Chinese is convenient for domestic users. So far, there are more than 3700 individual and corporate users from nuclear-related scientific research institutes, universities and colleges, nuclear power plants and governmental bodies. In order to better utilize this platform, we re-designed and re-edited the website in 2012-2013. 8 3.Re-edition of Chinese INIS Website

10. 10 Nuclear Encyclopedia on-line dictionary The featured column of Nuclear Encyclopedia collecting 900 or more terms and explanations on nuclear power technology, and an on-line dictionary including 130 thousands words are newly added. The featured navigation is also added for the convenience of data seeking and acquisition by users from various angles. 3.Re-edition of Chinese INIS Website

12. In addition to provide nuclear scientific and technological information services to the domestic users, the new website also publicizes the INIS work in China, popularizes nuclear knowledge and plays its role as the National INIS Center. 12 3.Re-edition of Chinese INIS Website

13. 4.International communication 13 Mr. Yi JihoMs. Taghrid In 2013 ， Ms. Taghrid from INIS and Mr. Yi Jiho from Korea INIS visited CINIE. We discussed the issues in INIS and exchange experience.

The China INIS Center will continue to work hard for INIS input preparation, do well with the publicity and spreading of INIS, and let more users obtain help from INIS. 1.Doing well with the publicity work, and letting more potential users to know about and utilize INIS Continue to dig out more potential users and expand the influence of INIS through the Chinese INIS website. The near-term target focuses on universities or colleges with nuclear and related majors. 14 III. Future Development of China INIS

15. 2.Doing well with user service, and helping them to dig out useful information. INIS is a very valuable database, which contains much useful information for users engaging in scientific researches. However, the key point of INIS utilization is how to dig out this information for users, and let users easily acquire this information and meet their needs. We shall do more in this in the future, and help users to acquire information they want in INIS. 15 III. Future Development of China INIS

16. 3.Strengthening cooperation with the CNS, and striving for its authorization to collect all its full text conference proceedings. At present, we have obtained all the public conference proceedings from CNS, and the title list information has been input in INIS. Next, we are expected to strengthen cooperation with the CNS for their deeper understanding, strive for its authorization to collect all its full text conference proceedings, and input these proceedings into INIS as NCL. 16 III. Future Development of INIS

17. 1.Hoping INIS to strengthen NCL full text collection The title list information including abstracts found in the INIS database is far from users’ demand, they want to obtain the full original texts instead. Therefore, INIS shall continuously strengthen the construction of NCL and collect more international conference proceedings in the future. 17 IV. Suggestion

18. 2.Strengthening cooperation between member states to jointly promote the development of INIS The aim of INIS is to promote the peaceful utilization of world’s nuclear power technologies, and it is the obligation of every INIS member state. Since the situations in various countries are quite different, the practice of users in various countries is also different. Therefore, all countries shall adopt flexible spreading methods according to their own situations. All of us shall strengthen cooperation, share working experience, and jointly promote the development of INIS. 18 IV. Suggestion
