1 Department of Engineering Management, Information & Systems Systems Engineering Program Executive MS SE Degree Program A fast-track two-year program offering academically rigorous courses (same as on-campus courses) taught by industry and government professionals (SMU Adjunct Professors) and full-time SMU professors in a participatory and team-oriented classroom environment –Students start the program as a group, take all courses as a group and graduate as a group –Classes meet one Friday & Saturday a month during the fall and spring semesters, plus full full days during the summer semester. 1

2 Department of Engineering Management, Information & Systems Systems Engineering Program Executive MS SE Degree Program Objective A program designed for highly motivated engineers, analysts, team leaders, and technical managers who are typically employed full- time and have one of the following objectives: become an entry-level systems engineer update systems engineering skills progress in rank as a system engineer develop “system thinking” skills to prepare for –a management position –progression as a design engineer or analyst –the unpredictable and ever-changing future 2

3 Department of Engineering Management, Information & Systems Systems Engineering Program Executive MS SE Program - Overview The program objective is to provide education – theory and application – in systems engineering, analysis and management principles, methods and practices for development and management of systems (products and services) that satisfy customer requirements considering engineering, technology, environmental, management, risk, and economic factors by viewing the system as a whole, over its life cycle. Systems engineering, analysis and management courses provide principles, methods and practices that are applicable to development and management of all systems, through they are taught primarily by professors with aerospace and defense experience (Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman/Vought, Raytheon, Texas Instruments and U.S. Navy). 3
