5 An interactive science notebook (ISN) is your own personalized DIARY of science learning It is a portfolio of your work in ONE convenient spot. This is great for studying for upcoming quizzes & tests It is a great ORGANIZATIONAL tool that gives you permission to be PLAYFUL AND CREATIVE in your responses without "messing up" your notes. It allows you to THINK, RECORD AND REFLECT like a REAL SCIENTIST !

8 The Left SIDE is for “LEARNING” and contains information given by Mrs. Kovatch. Ex. power points, text notes, videos, lectures, foldable notes. The Right side is for your “REFLECTION, REVIEW AND RETENTION.” This is the side that you can use to show me your creativity. This is the “output” or product side. Ex. Diagrams, flow charts, vocabulary cartoons, clock questions, etc. The notebook is divided into TWO sections.

9 LEFT side “learning ” INFORMATION = INPUT RIGHT side is “reflection, review, retention” = STUDENT OUTPUT

12 The RIGHT SIDE belongs to you. On this page you may include clock questions, diagrams, cartoons, drawings, poems, foldables, etc. Let your CREATIVITY go wild! Odd pages = 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, etc.

13 The day’s activity is placed on the RIGHT or OUTPUT side of the notebook. This section acts as a REVIEW for the LEFT or INPUT side. This side entails hands on, tactile learning.

19 MORE Output Explanation A) What is a Clock Question? A Clock Question is a way to review left side material-what we learned in previous lessons. There are 12 clock questions to chose from. See “The RIGHT SIDE” in your ISN for instructions.

20 “ISN's are easy to do and worth a lot of points, so take time and effort to do them well.“ "Always update your table of contents so papers don't get messed up - or in case of an ISN check.“ "An ISN is a great tool, keep it organized!“ "You have to spend quality time on your ISN.“ "Don't leave your ISN until the last day, otherwise you may be up to the early morning hours finishing assignments.“ "Color things. It looks so much better that way” "Keep it in order, because you never know when a notebook check might come up.“ "Do not save your ISN until the last minute. Remember, it counts as much as a quarter test."
