Who needs Auto Insurance? Anybody who owns a car/motorcycle Auto insurance protects you from paying a large amount of money at the time of an accident (if it is your fault) It protects victims against their losses Other than auto insurance you would want insurance against theft or physical damage to your car caused by collision, fire, windstorm or hail If you don’t have auto insurance and get into an accident and you can’t pay for the injuries or damages you can lose your driving privileges and even a criminal conviction or jail time

Story 1 In 20 years of driving I have been fortunate to have had only one single accident. Its interesting that I should be in Atlanta, far from home, when this accident happened. Fortunately, Progressive was my insurance company and I could not be more grateful. Within minutes of my accident, I was contacted by Chris, my claims representative. When going to one of Progressive’s Service Centers, I was hesitant, I dithered for several weeks while various people gave me advice on where to take my vehicle, nothing felt right, so I went back to Progressive. I came across Norcross, GA., Service Center and my experience with them was so much better. So I chose Norcross. I received my vehicle back newly painted, with new passenger doors, new front and rear bumpers, and a glow not seen since I drove you off the lot in 2005. so all I got to say is be very careful which insurance you choose. -G.K.

Story 2 Kathy, 20, from Richmond, Virginia, had been sideswiped on her way back from work one evening. “I’m still not completely sure what happened, I remember getting hit, and next thing I know I’m up against a light post on the side of the road. It turns out, the guy that hit me didn’t have any auto insurance. I had hurt my neck pretty bad, and was in a lot of pain, so I went over to the hospital to get it checked out. I called my insurance company the next morning to report my claim, and was hoping to get reimbursed for my medical bill. Apparently, since the other guy didn’t have auto insurance, and my plan didn’t have under-insured motorist bodily injury coverage, I was out of luck, and ended up having to pay for my $800 medical bill out of my pocket.”

Story 3 Simon of Boulder, CO. “I had just switched my auto insurance to a new company, with better coverage, since I had just got a promotion, and wanted to make sure I had all forms of coverage. Everything went smoothly, I was already feeling safer with my finances. Six months pass, and I get two bills in the mail; one from my new insurance company, and one for my old company. It seems so obvious now, but at the time I had no idea you actually had to cancel your previous policy. Long story short, I ended up paying an additional $500 to my old insurer in addition to the cost of my new policy.”

Umbrella Personal umbrella insurance is additional liability insurance, designed to pay out on top of your existing auto and homeowner’s/renter’s insurance policies. For example, you may only have $300,000 in liability coverage on your car insurance. If you are hit with a claim of $1,000,000, you would be on the hook for $700,000 yourself unless you had an adequate umbrella insurance policy.
