3 Being Police Officer Police officers are generally charged with the apprehension of criminals and the prevention and detection of crime and the responsibility of keeping the city under control and the city or peace among there people. Police officers may be sworn to an oath, and have the power to arrest people and jail them for a limited time, along with other duties and powers.

4 Credentials/ education Police officers are recruited some with experience in the military or security services. In the United States state laws may codify state-wide qualification standards regarding age, education, criminal record, and training but in other places requirements are set by local police agencies. Each local Police agency has different requirements.

5 How long does the education take? The education depending what country and state u want to be a police officer in can be anywhere from six to two years of schooling and training.

And some get paid more than other and some are a lot harder jobs or a lot more pay. 9 Law enforcement future This Career wont ever end as long as people exist along with government, drugs, money, anger, crazy people, and all violations of the rules.

10 Do I want to be a cop? Yes because this job has a good future and I think it would be kind of fun and I would keep in shape. I would also have a lot of respect from people in my city. And the pay is pretty good after a couple years on the force.

11 Police job summary. Police officers protect the lives and property of citizens. They maintain order, catch lawbreakers, and work to prevent crimes. In small towns they perform many duties. Larger cities have a more structured division of responsibility. Police officers may patrol the streets on foot or in squad cars; control traffic; or work as detectives investigating crimes. At the police station officers may be assigned to work in the crime laboratory or the records department. All officers file reports of incidents, and many testify at trials and hearings. The end.
