The Escorts Group is an Indian multinational engineering conglomerate that operates in the sectors of agri-machinery, construction and material handling equipment, railway equipment and auto components. Headquartered in Faridabad, Haryana, the company was launched in 1944 and has operations in more than 40 countries. Escorts Group’s management team includes Rajan Nanda as the Chairman and Managing Director and Nikhil Nanda as the Managing Director.

6. RAILWAY AIR BRAKE
A railway air brake is a power braking system with compressed air as the operating medium. Modern trains rely upon a fail-safe air brake system that is based upon a design patented by George Westinghouse on March 5, The Westinghouse Air Brake Company (WABCO) was subsequently organized to manufacture and sell Westinghouse's invention. In various forms, it has been nearly universally adopted.
The Westinghouse system uses air pressure to charge air reservoirs (tanks) on each car. Full air pressure signals each car to release the brakes. A reduction or loss of air pressure signals each car to apply its brakes, using the compressed air in its reservoirs.

8. DISTRIBUTOR VALVE (KE TYPE)
The Distributor valve controls proper application and release of brakes of different vehicles depending on the pneumatic pressure prevailing in the brake pipe. It works automatically, providing graduated application and release and is pressure maintaining.
KE distributor valve compiles with the requirements of the most recent UIC specifications governing compressed air brake for freight and passenger trains in international traffic.

Modular design
The Escorts KE type distributor valve is of Modular design. This means that the basic valve body can be supplemented by the connection or incorporation of appropriate accessory components as required for the purpose in view.
Features
The basic distributor valve incorporates the following features.
Limitation of maximum brake cylinder pressure.
Brake cylinder pressure maintenance.
Rapid build-up of maximum pressure for application of brake blocks.
Maintenance of control reservoir pressure.
Acceleration of pressure reduction in the main air brake pipe when the brake application is initiated.
Over charge protection.
It is highly sensitive to controlled brake pipe reductions & increases and complies to UIC requirements.
It is insensitive to incidental pressure variations in the brake pipe i.e. leakage etc. and complies to UIC requirements.
