3 Canada’s Role in WW1 Canada entered the war on Aug 4 1914.
Sir Robert Borden was the Prime Minister. About 110,000 Canadians died On 9th April 1917 the Canadian corps captured Vimy Ridge in France. Though this victory cost the Canadian Corps 10,000 casualties, it was a great military success, and Vimy Ridge is now the site of Canada's National Memorial.

5 Passchendaele Passchendaele was one of the war's worst battles. The unspeakable conditions led to terrible losses -- nearly 260,000 Allied casualties, including over 15,000 Canadians killed and wounded. This suffering didn’t produce much except it did help wear down the German forces more than any other battle. Passchendaele represents the horrors of WW1.

6 Vimy Ridge The Battle of Vimy Ridge was a battle in France during WW1. The main combatants were the Canadian Corps against the Germans. The battle took place from 9 April to 12 April 1917. The Canadian Corps won because of their meticulous planning, powerful artillery support, and extensive training. The battle was the first time when all four divisions of the Canadian Forces fought together.

7 The Christmas Truce On December 25, 1914  opposing soldiers  lowered their guns – calling a temporary truce and celebrated together  with goodwill, peace, love and Christmas cheer..and even a soccer match.

8 Allies When World war 1 broke out in 1914, all allies of the British Empire, including Canada, were called upon by Great Britain to fight. Some allies of England are : Canada America And more such as France, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Montenegro, Serbia, Japan, China, Portugal, Romania, and Greece

Hitler fought in ww1 in the German Army. There were 70,000,000 men and women in uniform of that number one-half were either killed, wounded or became prisoners of war First Known use of chemical weapons (mustard Gas) “Coffin Nails" was a term used by British soldiers to describe cigarettes.

11 The End of the War An Armistice was signed ending the war at 5 AM the conflict ended at 11am on the (Rememberance Day) The word "armistice" means an agreement to end  fighting and begin peace negotiations.  In the First World War 'the armistice' is  of the agreement between the Germans and the Allies to end the war on November 11, 1918.
