8. What gifts does the Holy Spirit provide? Manifestational gifts – 1 Corinthians 12:7-20  Wisdom  Word of knowledge  Faith  Healing  Miraculous powers  Prophecy  Discernment  Tongues & interpretation

10. What is the purpose of these gifts and manifestations? “This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.” Hebrews 2:3-4 They enable the church to bear witness to Jesus:  Proclaim his message  Demonstrate his mercy

13. The need for leaders who are ready to cooperate with the Spirit Leaders need:  An attitude of readiness – willing to welcome and cooperate with the Holy Spirit  A practical readiness – equipped to act in response to the Spirit’s activity

The need for practical teaching  ‘Normalize’ the persons and work of the whole Trinity  Create specific teaching opportunities dealing with a wide range of spiritual gifts  Equip people with a first-hand understanding of how to welcome and encourage the expression of spiritual gifts in the congregation
