What is a literal equation? A literal equation is an equation that contains more than one variable. A literal equation is an equation that contains more than one variable. When you solve a literal equation, you are rearranging the equation to isolate a variable. When you solve a literal equation, you are rearranging the equation to isolate a variable.

x + y = 7 -2 + 9 8 + -1 3 + 4 -5 + 12 1 + 6 2 + 5 11 + -4 0.25 + 6.75 -10 + 17 0.023 + 6.977 0 + 7 0.4 + 6.6 6.9 + 0.1 1.5 + 5.5 0.5 + 6.5

2x=10gh = m 2x=10gh = m

2x + 5 = 11 Solve ax + b = c for x

Solve the equation ab + cd = g for c Solve the equation ab + cd = g for c Solve the equation ab + cd = g for a. Solve the equation ab + cd = g for a.

1) Solve 3x - 6y = 17 for x. To get x by itself, what is the first step? 1.Add 3x 2.Subtract 3x 3.Add 6y 4.Subtract 6y

1) Solve 3x - 6y = 17 for y. To get x by itself, what is the first step? 1.Add 3x 2.Subtract 3x 3.Add 6y 4.Subtract 6y

You Try! 1. P= IRT for T 2. A= 2(L + W) for W

3. y= 5x - 6 for x 4. 2x +3y = 8 for y You Try!

9z + 2a = 3j – 4x

l = 16ft. The perimeter of my living room rug is 57 ft. Calculate the width.

The area A of a triangle is given by the formula A = ½bh where b is the base and h is the height. h b Use formula from a. to find the height of the triangle shown, which has a base of 5cm and an area of 50cm. b. Solve the formula for the height h. a.

5 9 Celsius vs. Fahrenheit Celsius: used in most countries around the world. Fahrenheit: used in the USA only. Celsius and Fahrenheit are different scales to measure temperature.

You are visiting a foreign country over the weekend. A local website tells you that the weather will be 30⁰C on Saturday and Sunday. Should you pack a winter coat or should you pack a bathing suit for your trip? 9 5 = The formula for Celsius is: C(F - 32).
