What is Cellular? Cellular: A type of wireless communication that is most familiar to mobile phones users. It's called 'cellular' because the system uses many base stations to divide a service area into multiple 'cells'. Cellular calls are transferred from base station to base station as a user travels from cell to cell.
A Brief History In 1973, the first phone call was made on a cellular phone. Martin Cooper who was a the general manager of Motorola’s communications division placed the first call to his rival at AT&T's Bell Labs from the streets of New York City.

Are Cell Phones to Blame for the Rise in Brain Cancer? The incidence of brain cancer has increased 25% since 1973, according to the National Cancer Institute. Each year, 185,000 Americans will be diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor, according to the National Brain Tumor Foundation.
