2  My state is Rhode Island.  The state capital is Providence.  The population is 1,048,319.  The date of statehood is May 29,1790 it is the13th state.  Rhode Island was adopted in 1897, it has 13 stars on it’s flag that represent the Original 13 colonies.  The state seal was adopted in 1896, has a design similar to that of the flag. 4  The state’s motto is Hope.  The state’s nickname is “The Ocean Otate”.  The area is 1,223 miles square.  The Major rivers and Major Lakes are Providence, Sakonnet, Seekonk, and the Narragansett bay.  The Coastline is 40 miles.  The Major cities are Providence, Cranston, East Providence, Warwick, Pawtucket, and Woonsocket.  The major Industries are Real Estate, Trade, Finance, HealthCare, Fishing, Mining, and Insurance.  The Major Attractions are Tourism and The University of Rhode Island.
