THE TAIGA IS THE LARGEST BIOME IN THE WORLD. IT STRETCHES OVER 5300 SQUARE MILES. ITS NAME IS ALSO CALLED THE NEEDLE LEAF FOREST.
THE TREES HAVE THICK BARK SO WHEN THERE ARE WILD FIRES THEY WONT BURN TO ASH. THE TAIGA IS LOCATED JUST AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD UNDER THE TUNDRA.
The Taiga gets over 12-37 inches of rain per year. It stays 65 degrees some times in the winter, or it gets 30 below in the winter. It get drifts of snow 7 feet high.
It gets so hot and dry in the summer it starts wildfire, because the temperatures gets 70-80 degrees.
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE TAIGA ANIMALS’ FOOD CHAIN. MOST ANIMALS GO SOUTH FOR THE WINTER, BUT SOME STAY AND HIBERNATE FOR THE WINTER.
The animals that hibernate have long fur so they stay warm till spring. The animals who don’t hibernate find food and store it in their den or cave. The birds migrate south so they stay warm and find food.
Some of the animals like the lynx, wolf and others look for the food in the winter. Some animals hibernate during the winter.
In the Taiga most plants die in the winter because of the harsh winter storms. Some of the plants grow close together so they can survive. There is one plant called the Taiga. It is a beautiful purple plant that grows only in summer and spring. Most plants die because snow lands on it and they will bend and break.
This plant is called the Taiga. It is a very beautiful plant that grows in the summer.
My Biome has many wild fires and it is also the largest biome in the world. This biome has many plants and animals in its forest that can adapt to its weather. This biome can get really cold so the animals have to find a warm den.
