Join Our Research Efforts in CCAA to Improve Cybersecurity Robustness, Resiliency and Management in Enterprises Information Slides to Encourage Your Organization to Team with Us in the Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation (CCAA)

Background In May 2013, the National Science Foundation (NSF) established CCAA – NSF Industry / University * Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation (CCAA) Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center * See information about this and other NSF national I/UCRC research efforts at http://www.nsf.gov/eng/iip/iucrc/

NSF I/UCRC Research Consortium Model Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center Join the CCAA Consortium as members Help define and guide the multi- university research projects Share in the intellectual property developed Establish CCAA research center Propose research projects Direct and manage research and develop manpower Provide administrative funding for CCAA universities Provide independent evaluation of research efforts Industry and Government Organizations Universities NSF RESEARCHRESEARCH INNOVATIONSINNOVATIONS

Collective Research Efforts Needed to Address the Gap Between Cyber-security Risks and Defensive Management Capabilities Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center Systems complexity increasing Systems are more integrated “Internet of Things” - more connectivity Increased adversary sophistication Bigger attack surface More opportunity for misconfiguration More exposure and Big Data Better and smarter defensive measures required

CCAA Mission To build a critical mass of inter-disciplinary academic researchers and industry partnerships to undertake pre-competitive research that addresses current and future challenges of enterprise analytics and automation Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Science of Security Analytics and Automations Analytics is to predict and measure security risks (due to external threats or local misconfigurations) under incomplete system specifications and unknown attack strategies Automation is to dynamically adapt security controls and configurations to minimize risk (attack potential & consequences) Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Join the Current Members University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Dr. Ehab Al-Shaer) – Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation – RTI International George Mason University (Dr. Sushil Jajodia) – MITRE – North Grumman – Office of Naval Research (ONR) Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Universities Considering Becoming Part of CCAA Colorado State University – Approved October 2014 Penn State University – Approved October 2014 Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Benefits of CCAA Membership Create, direct and leverage specific pre- competitive research efforts required in this field that can benefit your organization Influence on-going research quality and future research efforts through annual member advisory board reviews conducted twice a year Develop and foster new industry-to-industry and industry-to-government relationships and opportunities through interaction with industry, academic and government key players Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Benefits of CCAA Membership Gain advance knowledge of research results as they emerge Have access to students and researchers who may fulfill critical resource needs within member organizations Participate in a historically successful NSF approach that advances important capabilities needed by critical elements of societies Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Benefits of CCAA Membership Members serve on CCAA Industry Advisory Board (IAB) – Board meets twice a year to review and guide the research projects and directions of the CCAA – Pre-publication review by members of any proposed published research – Any intellectual property developed can be use- license fee free to members of CCAA Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Membership Requirements Industry and Government Organizations – Yearly minimum membership $50,000 (Government organizations can MIPR funds directly to NSF for their CCAA membership saving administrative paperwork) – Invoiced typically in June of CCAA’s fiscal year, which is 1 July thru 30 June Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Please Consider Becoming a Member of CCAA by Partnering with Colorado State University Your support would be invaluable to our collective efforts to advance needed research guided by your organization’s leadership Contact for additional information – Dr. Indrakshi Ray, Colorado State University, Indrakshi.Ray@Colostate.edu (970) 491-7986 Indrakshi.Ray@Colostate.edu Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Security Research @ CSU Secure Software Design Access Control and Trust Models Secure Internet Protocols Privacy and Anonymity Secure Workflow and Transactions Secure Stream Processing Research Sponsors – AFRL, AFOSR, FAA, NIH, NIST, NSF, USDA Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center

Current Research Querying over Encrypted Data Secure Stream and Event Processing Security in Online Social Networks Distributed Denial of Service Detection Personalized Security for the Home User Insider Threat Detection Software Requirements Acquisition Center for Configuration Analytics and Automation - An NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center
