2 Student Driven Strategies The following strategies are student initiated, so they are very simple to implement…

3 Time to Increase Difficulty

4 Personal Checklist Teacher provided, student driven Insert checklist

5 Choice Boards http://germansektor.blogspot.com/2013/10/emergency-sub-plans.html Crossword Puzzle Create a crossword puzzle with 15 vocabulary words from the current unit. Clues must be in complete sentences in the language you are studying. Include both the finished puzzle and an answer key. Comic Write and illustrate a 6-10 panel comic strip using at least seven current vocabulary words and three examples of the current grammar topic. Highlight the vocabulary and grammar examples. Gameboard Come up with 15-20 questions based on the current vocabulary, grammar and/or cultural unit. Put your questions on the included game board OR honey comb sheet. Include an answer key. Store Ad Create a magazine ad for a French or Spanish store (make up a name!). Have 10 products for sale related to your current vocabulary unit. Include a picture, brief description and price for each item. Interview Write ten questions using vocabulary words from the current unit. Interview two classmates and write their answers. Write complete sentences! Rebus Make a rebus (picture story) using at least ten vocabulary words from the current unit. Have someone read it back to you, then have them initial it. Example: J’ai un/Tengo un Scrabble Play scrabble with 2-3 of your classmates using the attached scrabble board. Make sure you use words from the current vocabulary unit. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE RULES FOR THIS SCRABBLE BOARD, YOU CAN’T PLAY. Song Take a familiar tune and make a song about the current grammar or vocabulary unit. Be prepared to either sing your song OR have someone else sing it to the class. Penpal Write an e-mail to a French or Spanish penpal. Use 12+ vocabulary words from the current unit and 3 examples of the current grammar topic. Highlight vocabulary and grammar examples. Survey Create a 3-5 question survey based on the current vocabulary unit. Interview at least half of the class and take notes on their responses. Then create a graph to summarize your classmates’ answers to each question. Espacio libre/Espace libre Flashcards French/Spanish I und II: Create a set of picture flashcards for at least 20 vocabulary words from the current unit. Write the vocabulary word on one side and draw an illustration of it on the other. You may use notebook paper. Make all cards the same size Choose any two of the following activities to complete. They must be turned in by the end of class. Keep in mind that this choice board is used for all levels of French or Spanish – you have the same guidelines, but my expectations for the product you produce are much different. If you’re in French 2 honors, don’t turn in something that a student in French 1 could produce. And if you’re in French 1, don’t turn in something you could have done during the first week of school. Same goes for Spanish
