2. Who invented the Eye Glasses
Salvino D'Armate invented eyeglasses in around 1285
He shared the invention with Allesandro della Spina, an Italian monk, and he is often credited with inventing eyeglasses.

The first eyeglasses were made in Italy at about 1286.

5. What materials were originally used to make the Eye Glasses
In the 13th century Venetians glass blowers were known to have produced reading stones made of solid glass that was put into single lens-type frames made of wood or horn that were hand-held.
Glass was the original material for eye glasses because it has great optical clarity, but the glass lenses can be very heavy. Plastic lenses are lighter than glass but they are easily scratched.

The Eye Glasses also improved with the addition of the frame temples to help hold up the Eye Glasses.
The Eye Glasses could be manufactured with multifocal lenses, which corrected both distance and reading.

Despite the use of contact lenses and the invention of laser surgery to correct vision problems, many people will find eyeglasses necessary for their personal needs.
Improved technology in the manufacture of plastic lenses and frames and in the fitted frames have made eyeglasses enjoyable to wear. The fashion industry also actively supports eyeglass frames as an added avenue for designs and a popular method of stating personal style.

Many people nowadays have different vision problems.
In order for people to accomplish their daily work, people use eye glasses. Different types are often used for different vision problems.
Vision defects include presbyopia, myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

9. What is the global impact on society of the invention and subsequent of Eye Glasses?
The earth was formed 4.5 billion years ago. Society has been around for about twenty thousand years.
Eye Glasses did not appear until just over seven hundred years ago. Before that time, nearsighted youth experienced a world that was clear only to within four to five feet from where they stood. Farsightedness affected almost everyone. Active, productive members of society had to stop working, writing, reading, and using their hands for skillful tasks at a young age until now.
The invention and improvements of the Eye glasses now help see far and close up easier and also for people with farsightedness, no longer affects anybody.

10. If you had the ability to change this product in any way, what would you change?
I would add a zoom in and out on glasses. This would help both farsighted and nearsighted people with seeing, reading, and everyday activities. Also I would add a light to them. It would help with walking and reading in the dark. Finally I also would add a laser pointer to the end so that when you are reading you wouldn’t lose your place.
