Freegal Music offers access to nearly 3 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists.
In total, the collection is comprised of music from over 10,000 labels with music that originates from over 60 countries.
There is no software to download, and there are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions.

2. SITE
ACCESS
Patrons simply click the Freegal icon on your website. Freegal can be accessed from the library, from home or via app from a smart phone/tablet.

5. SEARCHING
To the left of each song is a blue arrow. Clicking this allows you to play a 30 second sample of the song.
Click the Download Now link to download your song.
You can also click on the artist name link under the song to go to the artist page.

This is Adele’s artist page. Click on an album name to preview the songs.

This is the Album view. Again, you can click the blue arrow to play a 30 second sample, or click “Download Now” to select your song.

8. IMPORTANT: Once you press “Download Now”, you have used up one of your downloads, regardless of whether you then press ‘Cancel’ or not.

If you are using Chrome as your browser, your song will appear in your downloads bar at the bottom left of your screen. Click the song and it automatically opens in iTunes.

If you are using Firefox as your browser, a pop up box will appear asking if you want to “Open with iTunes” or “Save File”.
Click “Save File” and then click OK.

If you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, a tool bar will appear at the bottom of the screen asking if you want to “Open” or “Save”. Click “Save” & then “Open”.

13. It does not matter which browser you use
It does not matter which browser you use. When you open the file, your song will open iTunes (or Windows Media Player if you do not have iTunes). It is yours to keep. You can do whatever you want with it. Transfer it to your iPod/iPhone or burn to a CD.

When searching for a specific artist or band, search first name, then last name.
Bands that begin with "The" in their name, are alphabetized under the letter "T”.

This screen shows featured artist graphics, and allows quick browsing of your Library Top 10 the National Top 10 downloads.  
The upper right corner has your weekly download allocation, and the number that you have used in the current week. 
The search icon is in the upper right corner.
The blue arrow is to play a song clip.
The downward pointing arrow is to download the song.
APP FUNCTIONALITY

21. My Music:  “My Music” is where all your songs are stored after they are downloaded.
Playlist: This is where you can create shortcuts to your favorite music. You can create multiple playlists to organize your music. Once you create a playlist, you will have the music both in “My Music” and in the Playlist area.
Settings:  This is where you can, if you wish, log out of the Freegal Music Application.  One of the great things about the App is you don’t have to login each time!
