Planetary project webquest John Pierce Grades 3-5 EDU 505
Your mission!!! (Purpose) You and your team are on a mission to explore the Solar System! While you are exploring, you and your team must report back to mission control about one of the planets.
EXPLORING your planet (task) Each team will be assigned a planet to explore. –Each team will randomly draw a planet to explore out of a hat! Each team will be writing a report about your planet, as well as creating a project about your planet. Your report and project will be presented to the class. Your team’s mission is to find facts about your assigned planet, using websites and other materials available to you to collect these facts.
Report to mission control (task continued) Each team will be creating a report on their planet to present to the class. With this report, each team will have to create a project that shows us facts about your assigned planet.
Exploring your planet (online resources) These are the websites to use for exploring your planet: –http://www.kidsastronomy.com/ http://www.kidsastronomy.com/ –http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/index.cfm http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/index.cfm –http://www.frontiernet.net/~kidpower/planets.html http://www.frontiernet.net/~kidpower/planets.html –http://www.windows.ucar.edu/ http://www.windows.ucar.edu/
your Planetary project Each team must create a written report about their planet. –The report should be at least one full page long. –The report should have all of the key facts about your planet. –The report should be written by all of the teammates, and must have all of the teammates’ names on it.
Your planetary project (continued) You and your team must decide together on what type of project you would like to do. Project ideas: –Create a poster –Create A diorama –Create A model of your planet –Write A song –Create A PowerPoint presentation –Create a video about exploring your planet –OR A PROJECT OF YOUR CHOOSING! ALL PROJECTS MUST BE APPROVED BY MR. PIERCE BEFORE YOU START THEM !
Mission control evaluation (assessment) Your planetary projects will be graded by looking at these things: –CONTENT FACTS PRESENTED ACCURACY –WRITTEN REPORT WRITING RULES WRITTEN CONTENT –PLANETARY PROJECT DEVELOPMENT APPEARANCE CREATIVITY ACCURACY –PLANETARY PROJECT PRESENTATION TO THE CLASS PUBLIC SPEAKING PARTICIPATI0N BY THE GROUP CLARITY
CONCLUSION THROUGH THE RESEARCH PROCESS, WRITING REPORTS, CREATING PROJECTS, AND PRESENTING THEM TO THE CLASS, OUR GOAL WAS TO LEARN ABOUT OUR SOLAR SYSTEM AND THE NINE PLANETS. THE RESEARCH, REPORTS, PROJECTS, AND PRESENTATIONS ALSO DEMONSTRATED HOW RESEARCH OCCURS, AND HOW IT IS USED TO DEVELOP REPORTS AND PROJECTS.
