2 The Cherokee Indians grew corn, beans, squash, and sunflowers. They also gathered nuts, berries, and fruit. They made soups and stews using these foods.

3  The Chickasaw women grew corn, beans, and squash. They Chickasaw men hunted foods like deer and turkey. They also fished the rivers that they lived by.

4  The Cherokee Indians lived in villages near rivers. They built their homes from river cane frames and then put clay on the sides and grass roofs.

5  The Chickasaw lived in the same type of houses. They also lived in small villages near rivers.

6  The type of Cherokee clothing they were breechcloths is a type of long rectangular peace tanned as deer skin, cloth, or animal fur.

7  The Chickasaw tribe wore the same type of clothing as the Cherokee. This picture shows their leggings. They made their clothing from deer skin.

8  The Chickasaw traded regularly with all of the other South East native Americans this is one of the materials they traded.
