7 AND TO THINK THAT I SAW IT ON MULBERRY STREET was his first published children’s book. It was written in 1937. The book was rejected 28 times before it was published.

8 In 1960, Bennett Cerf (President of Random House Publishing Co.) bet Dr. Seuss $50 that he could not write an entire book using only fifty words. The result was Green Eggs and Ham. Cerf never paid the $50 bet that he lost.

9 The Lorax The Lorax was challenged in the Laytonville, California, school district because it "criminalizes the forestry industry." The Lorax illustrates the results of clear- cutting forests.
