15. Look up the word doxology in the dictionary. What two words does it come from, and what do they mean? What does the word itself mean?

16. Search the Hymnal… Look at hymn 531 in Christian Worship. Which stanza is the hymn’s doxology? How could you tell? Find two other hymns with doxologies.

17. Martin Luther once wrote about the Lord’s Prayer: “Like a child, I still suckle at it, and, like an old person, who cannot be satisfied, drink from it and eat of it.” How did he feel about the Lord’s Prayer? Do all Christians feel that way? Why or why not?

18. Agree or Disagree? It’s wrong to say amen when someone else tells you something you agree with, unless the conversation is about God.

19. Agree or Disagree? If one of our loved ones is seriously ill, and the doctor tells us it’s only a matter of time before that person dies, we should still pray that our loved one will recover and live, because God has the power to do anything.

20. Look at Matthew 6:13. Where is the doxology? What words of explanation introduce it? Look at Luke 11:4. Where is the doxology? Agree or disagree: Jesus never actually spoke the doxology. Give a reason for your answer. Agree or disagree: We should drop the doxology from the Lord’s Prayer.
