The Environment And Our Flaws Katherine Studt

THE THINGS WE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WATER PAPER ENERGY Paper products are made of trees that keep us alive. Water makes up 70% of earth, and of that 70%, 97% is salt water. We can’t waste our water. It is too valuable. Humans can’t survive with out it. People use so much energy by watching TV, playing video games, leaving lights on, and using computers.

TREES ARE IMPORTANT TO THE ENVIRONMENT If you care about yourself and others, continue reading. If you don’t, adios amigos! Trees are important, but this picture shows we don’t care. A lot of trees were chopped up just to make boards to cover a construction site. They could have used something that was better for the environment.

HOW WE HARM THE ENVIRONMENT when we are not trying This air conditioner is killing the tree in front of it. The top of the tree is all green but the branches by the air conditioner are falling off.

What is wrong with this ? The earth gives us natural products that are meant to live outside and not die in apartments after a one day.

Trash Trash is just our waste. Look, there are six yogurts in the trash. Do you do anything like that? Do you waste anything that could still be used?

Protecting the trees Do you know how many pounds of paper products you use each day? You use 4.5 pounds of paper each day. Toilet paper, paper towels, plain paper, and cardboard are all made from trees. SOURCE?

The Environment Do you realize that the U. S. produces approximately 1.35 million pounds of trash everyday! That’s a lot of trash and you are one person that’s contributing to that. There are many different ways people are harming the environment but I want to point out some of the biggest problems like littering, wasting electricity, wasting food, wasting paper, and most importantly, cutting down trees. Construction has had so many effects on the environment that I cant even begin to explain all of them so I will name and explain a few. First, when I moved into my apartment there were trees right in front of my building and they were old trees in the ground. Then construction started up and they cut down the trees and put a subway grate where the tree were. This caused a horrible smell and trash build up inside it. The second example would be how the construction workers build more than needed. They have narrowed the side walks which more people use than subways. The construction workers have so much extra room (that I can see from my balcony) that’s just collecting dust. It bugs me a lot and I wish something better could be put there like maybe a tree or some flowers to show that not all construction is bad. Trees are so very important to us and yet we destroy them. Why is that? It is because we humans have brains that control what we do like cut down trees. I think instead of using living breathing trees for paper or other wood products, we could use dead trees because there are a lot more dead trees than trees that are still alive. Trees give us oxygen, not the channel but the air, and if you want to live to see another day you should stop using paper products because the factories just go to some random forest and cut down the trees to supply you with more paper towels. And instead of using toilet paper there is a special kind of paper made out of cow poo it is mainly grass so it is not gross. I am not only talking about how we are harming the environment in New York, I am also talking about in places like the Grand Canyon. I mean we take care of that so well and we treat it like it is VIP (very important place) and we treat cities like trash. Literally I see trash on the sidewalk. We should find more natural resources that are plentiful that we could use for paper instead of using trees. To use less water we should brush our teeth faster and turn off the water when you don’t really need it. Also, turn off the lights whenever you leave a room and make sure the oven isn’t on or any other electronic devices.
