2 OSHA Strategic Management Plan 2003- 2008 By 2008, reduce fatality rates 15% and injury/illness rates 20% through: Goal 1 – Reduce occupational hazards through direct intervention Goal 2 – Promote safety and health culture through compliance assistance, cooperative programs, and strong leadership Goal 3 – Strengthen agency capabilities and infrastructure

9 OSHA-ACCA Alliance Signed May 8, 2003 The ACCA Alliance focuses on safety supervision, equipment and material handling, driver and vehicle safety, ladder and lift use, and lock-out/tag-out issues in the heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) industry

10 Alliance Timeline May 9, 2003 - Kick-off Meeting –OSHA, Washington, DC November 6, 2003 – Implementation Team Meeting –OSHA, Washington, DC December 8, 2003 – Implementation Team Meeting –OSHA, Washington, DC February 25-27, 2004 - ACCA Conference and Indoor Expo –New Orleans, Louisiana

11 Outreach and Communication Identify existing resources and stimulate the development of new training programs and materials as appropriate. Seek opportunities for OSHA representatives to speak, exhibit or appear at the national ACCA conference as well as at chapter meetings or other events. Develop and disseminate information through ACCA print and electronic media, including linkage between OSHA’s and ACCA’s web sites. Cross-train OSHA personnel and industry safety and health professionals in effective approaches for improving the safety and health of workers in the HVACR contracting industry. Promote and encourage ACCA members’ awareness of and participation in OSHA’s cooperative programs.
