Organic Farming in the eyes of a historian!

How did the organic food market begin?

This is how it began and more! The organic food market started by a book named “Look At The Land” in 1940. Alex McLean compared chemical and organic farming.

The 40’s Also that’s not all, In the 40’s pesticides were introduced and many farmers used them so they could farm quicker.

The 50’s In the 50’s a few farmers didn’t like pesticides and started making farms that didn’t use pesticides.

The 70’s More farmers decided to go organic because pesticides were hurting the land. Yay organic farming!

1998-2000 Between 1998 and 2000 USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) made rules for a farm to be organic.

What’s the Difference? The difference between organic food and conventional food( non-organic) is that some farmers use pesticides to make the crops grow faster and it hurts the environment, so its almost like cheating but worst. Organic farms use no pesticides that hurt the environment. But they do use additives that help keep it fresh.

Did you know? Did you know that If your farm is organic it goes bad quicker? Still, since the start of organic farming in the 40s organic farming has become more and more popular.
