3 Ways to create envelopes: 1. Blank document – go to Tools, Envelopes & Labels 2. Open a document with pre-typed addresses; place cursor in address needed, go to Tools, Envelopes & Labels 3. Open a letter; go to Tools, Envelopes & Labels; address of letter automatically entered in the delivery address of Envelopes

4 Envelopes and labels dialog box:  Return address – where letter is coming from  Delivery address – where letter is going to  Why omit the return address? If the envelope has a pre-printed return address already

5  Add to Document – attaches the envelope to the document which enables you to save it  Print – sends the envelope to the default printer; unable to save once you use the Print button  Options – gives options to change envelope

6 United States Postal Service (USPS) Guidelines:  Sans serif font (ex: Arial)  UPPERCASE letters  No punctuation except the hyphen in the zip code

7 Options dialog box: Envelope options-  Size of envelope  Delivery point barcode  FIM-A courtesy reply mail  Delivery and return address fonts Printing options-  Feed method  Feed from

8 Creating an envelope from a letter: Word selects the address and puts it into the delivery address box EXACTLY as it appears in the letter When the envelope is added to the document – the envelope is page 0. To move the delivery address on the envelope, use the frame. What is a section break? Divides a document into differently formatted parts

9 SECTION 2 - Labels Types of labels: diskette CD labels mailing file folder labels name tagsshipping Dot matrix printer vs laser printer:  dot matrix – tractor feed printer; paper with holes on the side  laser – regular 8 ½ x 11; faster; better quality

10 Word has built in label formats for what brand of labels? Avery What is the default option when printing labels? Full page Label options dialog box:  Printer information  Label products  Product number  Label information

11 To print a full sheet of the same label, you must select what on the Labels tab? Full page Can you add labels to a document? Yes When labels are added to a document, they are placed in a table which is a series of columns and rows. At the intersection of each column and row is called a cell.

12 Why would you want to save labels? To use and print at a later time Does spell check work in the Envelopes & Labels dialog box? No
