29 Lines 1-144 Benvolio and Mercutio are in the town square and they are walking down the main street, and it is the middle of the day. Mercutio points toward a tavern as he says, “Thou art like one of these follows that, when he enters the confines of a tavern, claps his sword upon the table” Tybalt Petruchio and their men drive down the street in a pick up truck and stop in front of Benvolio and Mercutio. People start to stare at the men because they are shouting. Romeo walks out of one of the shops carrying a bag of cotton and is seen by Tybalt. Mercutio draws pistol. Tybalt draws his pistol. Romeo shoots his gun in the air to try and get Mercutio and Tybalt to stop fighting, but Tybalt hears the shot and thinks that Mercutio shot at him, so he shoots Mercutio. When Mercutio says, “They have made worms’ meat of me” Romeo realizes that Mercutio is injured and throws his gun to the ground in a fit of rage. Tybalt walks up beside Romeo. Romeo turns and threatens Tybalt and then picks up his gun and uses it to shoot Tybalt. Benvolio gives Romeo the keys to his car and tells him to leave.

30 Lines 145-205 People start to form a circle around the crime scene. The prince (sheriff) is the first car to arrive followed by Caplets and Montages cars. The prince signals everyone to quiet. Montague rushes up to the Prince and grabs him and pleads with the prince to side with Romeo.
